Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Recruitment 2020

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has uploaded the SSC Stenographer Notification today i.e. on 10 October 2020 on its official website. Eligible and interested candidate can apply for SSC Stenographer Recruitment 2020-21 on or before 04 November 2020 till 11:30 PM on SSC Official website i.e ssc.nic.in. However, the last date for online payment is 06 November 2020. SSC has also published the short notification in the employment newspaper dated 10 October to 16 October 2020.


F.No.3/8/2020-P&P-II: The Staff Selection Commission will hold an Open Competitive Computer-Based Examination for recruitment to the posts of Stenographer Grade „C‟ (Group „B‟, Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade „D‟ (Group „C‟) for various Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations in the Government of India. Only those candidates who have skills in stenography are eligible to apply.


SSC will hold the Online Steno Exam 2021, for recruitment of Stenographer Grade “C” (Group B- Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade “D” (Group C- Non-Gazetted) in various Ministries/ Departments organizations in the Government of India, from 29 to 31 March 2021. The candidates who would qualify in SSC Stenographer Exam 2021 shall appear for Skill Test followed by document verification.

  • 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognized Board or University. Please read Official Notification for Educational Qualification details.
Stenography Test & Shorthand Proficiency:
  • For Stenographer Grade’C’:
    • For All Applicants – Candidates having 40 Minutes Stenography in English & 55 Minutes Stenography Speed in Hindi will be eligible for this Stenography Test & recruitment too.
    • For Applicants allowed to use Scribe in the CBE – Candidates having 55 Minutes Stenography in English & 75 Minutes Stenography Speed in Hindi will be eligible for this Stenography Test & recruitment too.
  • For Stenographer Grade ’D’
    • For All Applicants – Candidates having 50 Minutes Stenography in English & 65 Minutes Stenography Speed in Hindi will be eligible for this Stenography Test & recruitment too.
    • For Applicants allowed to use Scribe in the CBE – Candidates having 70 Minutes Stenography in English & 90 Minutes Stenography Speed in Hindi will be eligible for this Stenography Test & recruitment too.

  • Stenographer Grade 'C': 18 to 30 years as on 01.08.2020 i.e. candidates born not before 02-08-1990 and not later than 01-08-2002 are eligible to apply.
  • Stenographer Grade 'D': 18 to 27 years as on 01.08.2020 i.e. candidates born not before 02-08-1993 and not later than 01-08-2002 are eligible to apply.

0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. Minimum qualifying marks in Computer Based Examination, are as follows:

  • UR -30%
  • OBC/ EWS: 25%
  • All other categories (SC, ST, PwD, ESM, etc): 20%

SSC Stenography or Skill Test:  

The skill test will be of qualifying nature . The test will be conducted on computer.  The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’.

Selection Process: 
  • Candidates will be called for SSC Steno Computer Based Test. On the basis of their performance in Online Test, the merit list will be prepared for the skill test. All those candidates who qualify in the skill test will be recommended for appointment by the Commission on the basis of total marks in the Computer Based Examination.

Important Notice:
Candidates of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’ Examination, 2020 may note that the scanned colour passport size photograph uploaded in JPEG format (20 KB to 50 KB) in the online Application Form of the Examinationi) should not be more than three months old from the date of the publication of the Notice of Examination, and,
ii) that the date on which the photograph has been taken should be clearly printed on the photograph.

The above instructions have been incorporated in compliance with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.

Applications without the date printed on the photograph shall be
rejected.
